Rookie Awards 2018 – Official Finalists Announced

BREAKING — The Rookies received 9,971 digital projects created by 2,914 students from more than 87 countries worldwide. Over 580 academic facilities encouraged their students to submit work and will compete for the hotly contested School of the Year title, while students will battle for Rookie of the Year, Game of the Year, and Film of the Year titles. This year students are also competing for Studio Internships and Scholarships.

From the thousands of global entries submitted to The Rookies, the finalists represent the very best entries selected by the official judging panel which include some of the most influential and respected experts of their respective creative and technical fields.

The finalists have been selected by scoring each student based on criteria including creative skills, technical skills, presentation, variety of skills, complexity, raw talent, and employment potential. As always, the results have been extremely close with only a few points difference between the majority of nominees.

“It always seems so cliche to keep saying each year that the quality and standard of entries keeps getting better, but it just keeps happening.” said The Rookies co-founder Andrew McDonald.

The judges have moved into stage three of their voting process and will vote for category winners which will be announced July 16th, 2018.

“This year we will open up the voting to the public with The People’s Choice Award” said The Rookies co-founder Alwyn Hunt. “The voting will be conducted via Facebook page and will start in just a few days time.”
